Hey, I've been having more issues with throwout bearings than I could count on one hand (not even joking). The one in there now was installed, by a local shop, about 2 months ago with a new clutch cable/quad/fwa setup. Well... About a week ago, I began to notice a VERY quiet chirping noise coming from the TOB. Is there a reason why my TOB's aren't cooperating at all? If it goes out completely, it's under the shops warranty luckily, but it's still extremely frustrating having to keep swapping out TOB's...

I'm just looking for any causes of a TOB failure. I don't use the clutch as a footrest. I don't sit at a stop light in first gear with the clutch depressed, and the car is rarely beaten on. It may see WOT once every 2 days or so, depending on the weather/where I'm going. Please, I'm looking for any help.

Ford replacement(metal) or a cheap plastic replacement in there?
Ford replacements only. I spoke to a few friends who've owned multiple Mustangs in the past few years, and they say that the chirping noise I'm hearing now has been in ALL of their prior Mustangs. Is it just a normal thing, or what?

my '00 chirps at times. i can barely tap the clutch pedal, just enough to take out some of the freeplay, and it will stop.

my car has 87k on it and im sure its probably the original. im going to get as much mileage out of the existing one as i can. will do clutch, pp, tob, flywheel, quad, fwa and cable all at once

If it helps anyone's thoughts on the situation, my clutch cable had been adjusted from the shop it was at to grab up top. I was told this wouldn't damage any parts, so long as I drove it properly - not slipping it like mad from a takeoff. Could the clutch cable's adjustment have caused it to start chirping? I've already turned the fwa clockwise once to let it grab a bit lower.

I've read on different forums that the TOB should be packed like a wheel bearing before installation. Is that even possible? Just throwing that out there.

The TOB was greased up properly before install. The install wasn't botched at all - I sat there while it was being done, and the mechanic is one of the best Mustang guys we have around here.

I too am interested in this topic. I have a 95 GT, and will be replacing the clutch in her really soon. I too have a TOB squeal!
Is yours squeeling constantly, or when you shift, and loudly? Because mine isn't doing that right now. I've had them get so bad before to where it comes out in three different pieces, ball bearings everywhere, and it chews up the bearing retainer quite a bit.

Currently, all mine's doing is making a very light 'chirping' noise at idle with the clutch engaged. It's almost unnoticeable most of the time.
