Does anyone have a pic or can explain to me how the throwout bearing goes onto it's retainer? Is it suppossed to slide off and on easy? Just curious as the clutch and flywheel are on, and once the bellhousing is on shes getting dropped in tommorow. To me it appears that the thin lipped side slips over the retainer and faces the engine if my memory serves correct. But I would like to be sure. Kind of a tough question to explain, but I appreciate it. The haynes manual illustration absolutely sucked.

The throw out bearing slides over the two clip things on the back side. Should slide pretty easy.

The question has always been exactly how do the wave springs fit it the groove? The last time I assembled one, the bumps on the wave spring seated against the back flange of the throwout bearing

Thats the biggest part of what I was looking for. Makes me feel a lot better now since thats how I put it in. Mated the engine and tranny today, which was a bitch. Next time I'm dropping the tranny, dropping the motor in then putting the tranny up.

Is the throwout bearing suppossed to be fairly loose in it's retainer though? Myn is. It won't fall out, but would slide side to side some. I figured the input shaft would take care of it since it would ride on it, and the play was to let the bearing pivot when the clutch pedal is pressed. Am I correct?
