tick under acceleration

I'm getting a tick from the passenger side whenever the vehicle is under acceleration. It happened the same day i changed my sparkplugs and put on a prochamber. So its possible that it is being caused by an exhaust leak. One of the boots from the CoP to the plug fell apart and the spring fell out and i just shoved it all togethor so it could be caused by that as well. Its not a muffled tick like an exhaust leak but a loud audible tick like a sticking valve or something. My thoughts are injector, plug, sticking valve or exhaust leak... Any ideas?

I should also add that i dont think there is any loss of power whatsoever in the higher rpms, lower rpms it is possibly weaker.

you got it, it could be any of those. i would start eith the easiest first. try finding that exhaust leak. it just happened when you did the work, so chances are its related. if the midpipe isnt leaking (which i think might be the problem), it could be detonation or pinging since you put on the pipe. intake and exhaust work usually tend to lean out the stock ECU tune, and too lean will cause detonation.

Have you double checked the torque on your spark plugs? ~12ft-lbs, make sure you check there too, don't wanna blow one out of the head. If it's on the passenger side, I know at least one of them is kind of a pain to get to, which means you may not have tightened it all the way, or it just backed out.

It is either a loose spark plug or the messed up rubber boot is letting the spark discharge into the side of the plug well.

NAPA sells the boots but the ones at the Ford parts counter are better quality.

Alright i'll check the plugs since that seems the most dangerous and most likely actually. I've checked the pipe for leaks countless times but no go. It could be detonation, it is running very rich. I'll try a tank of higher octane... I might take off my cold air intake as well since that might be causing some problems with the sensor.

If i were to unplug my battery for an hour and do whatever it is you do to reset the computer would it make it half-learn the new mods? Im too poor to buy a tuner right now i have to buy my university books.

If its not the plugs i'll check the pipe and if its not that then i'll report back

Alright i reset the computer and retorqued the plugs, passenger side closest to firewall was a little bit loose... The loud tick is gone and it seems to be running better so thumbs up for that.

Now that i can hear, it sounds like there is an exhaust leak on both passenger and driver side where the pipes connect to the headers... actually it sounds like they're not even connected to the headers, its possible that im just on crack and there isn't a leak, because it doesn't sound like a leak, it sounds like a nice clean exhaust note, the only reason i think its a leak is because the exhaust is just as loud at the motor as it is behind the tailpipes and it sort of sputters when you turn it off. I dont know, i'll climb under it some day, its just a pain in the ass getting it jacked up, i hit the ramps and can't use those unless i do the old loaf of bread/board trick but thats risky.

thanks for the help everyone

when you put on your prochamber, did you replace the gasket with an oem ford, or if you reused the stock one, make sure that it's in good condition? and for the drivers side, did you use the adapter plate that came with the kit?

also, check the o2 sensors. when I put on my prochamber, the o2s were a little loose, and made a ticking noise that drove me crazy.

if you still can't find it, spray a soapy solution on the connections and look for air bubbles.
