Hey guys...

I'm finally getting around to a project car that has been sitting in my garage while I save up cash. I dont really have the choice on the engine as you'll see in the pics. I'm going to go new powerline completely back to the rear end. Probably a T56 (always wanted a 6 speed) and a Cobra IRS. Comments?

I'd like to get the car painted soon, and therefore would like to do any suspension mods up front. But I also dont want to blow my wad before getting to the engine. I am going to hit up the classifieds and see if anyone wants to do a rear end swap, or I'll get the cobra IRS from a donor car. I'll probably go with one the MM "boxes" that replace the front k-member and stiffen up the rear. I basically would like to get all of the body modifications done first before paint.

Does anyone have any recommendations on roll cages? Light street and road track. want my car to turn...

Other than the interior and exterior trim it's pretty much disassembled. I'm looking for a good paint shop in the Socal area that could help me out. I would even be willing to have the frame largely stripped ahead of time if it would save me some cash.

As for the engine.... I know there have been some battles with regards to engine manufacturers around here... I know that I could assemble the engine without problem, but I cant decide if I want the extra work. I've been looking at the engines from VT and SHM, probably a long block, with enough room to go to a KB blower later on down the line. Perhaps you guys have some better areas to check?

Either way, I don't think any of this is salvageable...

Any help appreciated...

Well, by looking at your pistons, and hole in the block.... you will need to either buy all those parts separately, or just buy an already assembled block. Given that this is a 4.6, and not a 5.0 I would suggest buying an already assembled block for your needs. However, that need for a 6 speed.... not really necessary. The tremec 6 speed has 2 overdrives and the 5th gear (if my memory is correct) has a .61 6th while the standard T45 that you had... has a .62 5th gear. I personally never put my car into "the hole" but thats me.

My suggestion is either buy yourself a long block 4.6 or possibly even go back to a 5.0 for much less $$$

That hole in the block stinks :(

looks a lot like mine did, actually i had 2 motors that looked like that haha, and they were N/A with nearly no major mods.anyway i decided to step everything up to forged and im having MMR build it right now.check them out.modularmustangraing.com
