TIMING ADJUST CONFUSING

today i deside to adjust my timing but i was confusing how to do iy.
what the correct procedure for it.
what i did is put harmonic to tdc 0 degrres, then i put white marker in it to 14 ,warm the engine,remove spout,then timing ligth ,at this step i was confuse ,what should i do ,do i need to bring the 14 deg marker to pointer edge or theres diffrent method .

Now you turn your distributor clockwise to advance the timing so that the 14 degree mark lines up with the pointer.

You only need to loosen the dist. hold down bolt enough to allow rotation.

Some motors can't take 14*
and other can
It can take some trial and error to find out what the motor is happy with.

the problem i dont have timing pointer so i will go to junkyard to take one ,is all 5.0l timing pointer are same non ho.
when i install it do i need to find tdc first

All the timing pointer on 5.0's *should* be the same.

Still, it would be good to 'calibrate' the pointer by setting #1 at TDC.
That way you will know it is right.

make you a deal, I don't have one either..... lol so if you grab one up for me i'll gladly pay you and the shipping to send it to me. I'm unsure but i'd guess the ho and non ho are the same. Yea you need to bring the number one piston to top dead center and when installed the pointer on the timing mark should line up with the 0 on the harmonic balancer.

Isn't this guy in Bahrain? They have 5.0's in junkyards in Bahrain?

yup we have but rarly you find a mustang so i will go for non ho engine if my luck bad
