someone on here said that after advancing the timing on the 94-95 gt that you would have to use higher octane gas.....is this really true because my buddy who was a mechanic for years says no....what is you guys' experience? If higher octane is required will 89 or 92 suffice, if so which is prefferred?

Yes you will have to run higher octane whenever you advance your ignition timing. Failure to do so will result in pinging.

i guess you could just advance it with 89 in your tank (if you even can) until it starts to ping. You dont HAVE to run a higher octane of fuel but a higher octane allows you to further advance the timing.

I run 93/94 whatever i can get my hands on and my timing is at 16* with no pinging
