Timing Advance help

I was wondering what is the most I can advance the timing in my 95 GT for maximum horsepower. I advanced the timing by ten degrees and I experienced severe pinging. I was wondering what are your guys' experiences with this. If I can not advance the timing properly manually then what would be the best computer chip to do the process for me if I choose to go that route?

bumping it up 10 degrees from stock timing is entirely too much. bump it up to 14 and if you get pinging bump it down until ping goes away. i wouldnt go higher than 14 though.
