timing and overheating problem

i just did heads (gt40p) and a mild cam job...i tried to time it a good as possible but to me it still doesnt feel right...also i can drive it for a few mins and it will start to overheat really bad...what can i do to fix this problem asap

what is your timing set @? is the car pinging?

i have no idea....didnt have a gun so i did it by ear as best as i could...it starts n it runs without dying so i did it to get it to run best....everythin on it is brand new....i got new hoses, alum racing rad elc fan and a whole bunch of other things as well....

well my boy who had the cam b4 me told me he had his set at 14....but i just wanted to kno if the timing problem was a result of the overheating problem

It could be. You need a timing gun to check your timing. You can't do it by ear. They are $25 at Autozone.

ok sounds good....is there anything else that i can do to make it run better...n quicker

haha i just spent 3grand on it now...thats gonna be in the future tho lol
