timing belt question

91 mustang dual plug. Question is, is the gear were the distributor should be does it mater where its pointed and the cam gear doesnt have a dot but it has like a spot that seems to be the line up mark you just take the line up mark and use a straight edge and line it with the center of the auxilliary bolt correct? any help here?

You can do that if youd like. That gear isnt as important because all it turns is the auxiliary shaft that turns the oil pump. So, in reality, since you dont have a distributor, it doesnt need to be lined up with anything
