will a reverse flow water pump flow water through a Timing cover that was made for a standard flow water pump?

Yes... The only difference is the way it spins and the impeller design.

i kinda figured that it would work...but in jegs they have a TC and in the ad it says that it works with both waterpumps, so i thought that maybe there was some difference.

there is a difference between passenger cars and light trucks-if you look at the two, you'll be able to see the difference in the way the ports are cast. But, if the water pump bolts onto your timing cover, you should be ok.

the ones they advert in Jeg's and Summit are a universal type on which you can use a reverse direction pump or a standard pump...but for what either one of them charge, you can buy one off eBay that's brand new and probably get a water pump too!

If you go way back, (289's and before) the timing covers were indeed different, kind of like the 94-95 5.0 timing covers, but they spun the same as the crank, and they didn't use a backing plate behind the pump...the pump bolted directly to the timing cover.
