I purchased a 1988 SSP last October. Yesterday I noticed that the timing chain cover was for a carburetor set up (it has the boss for a mechanical fuel pump). Are the water pumps the same for an efi timing cover and a carburated timing cover?
I ask this because this mustang runs warmer than any other 5.0 mustang I've had in the past.

I think it is dependent on the water pump used, reverse or standard rotation.
What temperature is warm?

I installed a timing cover with a fuel pump boss and use a waterpump with reverse rotation. No issues with heat.
