help!!
okay wheres the spout connecter?whats it look like?
i hooked up the timing light io the coil theres a scribed line on the damper,,its bouncing all over the place and i cant see any number..then i hooked it up on the first wire on the pass side...poor light...first wire on the drivers good light but not as fast as the coil..anyway the line was still jumping around 1-2 inches every direction...but i seen the number 20..it wasnt in one steady spot it boinced round a little too

i thought the damper was spun or it may be..it dont feel loose by hand.but then again i didnt really pull verry hard

help?

It's bouncing around because the computer is changing the timing constantly. You have to pull out the spout connector to get the base timing. It's a little grey plastic piece inserted into a wire on the passenger side firewall. Pull it out, start up the car and set the timing. When your done, insert it back in.

Just clip any part of the spark plug wire going to the number one cylinder.

Your supposed to mark the Balancer where you want to set the timing at with something that will reflect the light, like whiteout and line up the mark with the pointer. (If you didnt already know)You advance or retard the timing by turning the distributor.

Underdrive pullies have nothing to do with the timing pointer. Are you sure your looking at the right place? The pointer is a metal bracket when you look from the passenger side down at the balancer between the alternator pulley and the waterpump pulley.
