well boys i decided to throw the light on the car to find out where i was. I disconnected the spout conector and found the caar was at 6*, which is kinda weak took a couple cranks to get her to fire. I advanced the timing to 12* ( I think that is 2* advanced correct me if i'm wrong ) And of coure the it started to ping. Took it back dropped it to 10*, still pings under load on hot days.

MAF is clean the only thing i have left to do is drop it to 8*

What do you think this is all on regular octane

Thanx Dagz

That is probably why it was set where it was. High heat and higher octane go hand in hand.

I know how that goes. I checked mine today ... to find it was at 0*!

Pinging sux. Fortunately, I was able to set it at 12* (89 octane) and no pinging. If you do a search on here for "pinging", you will find that there have been issues with ping that were resolved several different ways. Maybe you'll get some ideas there. Personally, I believe we can thank FoMoCo for pinging because of their design on the combustion chambers.

timing

I have mine set at 17 btcdegrees with the spout pulled. when I rechecked it after I put the spout back in it only showed 26 btc degrees I think total. I'm using 93 octane. No pinging. I tried to change it but the distributor was siezed.
