Timing issues

Hey guys, I'm trying to figure out what's up with my timing and I haven't got a clue. First off, when setting it (with the spout out), you use the solid piece of metal that comes out straight over the balancer, not the one with the circle, correct? I matched up about 10*-12* with the spout out, and when I put the spout back in, it only moved by about 1*. Isn't it supposed to be 10*-12* base, and at least 20* at idle? Mine at idle with the spout in is almost identical as with the spout out. Any ideas on what the problem may be? Thanks! :)

I'm not sure what its supposed to be at idle cause i currently have something screwed in mycomputer but i wouldn't think the timing should advance until you rev it. i could be wrong though. jrichker would know though

I also use the straight edge (not the circle). SOmething is up with the SPOUT circuit. Dump the codes and see if you get one for it. As BCD said, you can see Jrichker's great write ups for how to find the short.

Good luck.
