Timing qeustion

I recently had to take off my lower manifold to fix an oil leak from both the front a rear gaskets which resulted in taking out the distrib. it's all back together now but not running like it should. So I adjusted the timing and was wondering what is the best timing setting I should go with? I have it set at 10* right now but it still seems to be a little hesitant on acceration! Any suggestions?

Well if you know how to do this and installation wasn't a problem, I didn't mean to insult your intelligence, but you'd be surprised.

I'd suggest starting at 14* and increasing 2* until you ping, then bring it down 2* after it pings and you're golden.

BTW, I've read how best results are achieved when total timing is around 34-38. I believe the EEC adds about 17-20*.

It is really worth finding your max timing, like stated above. I had the opportunity to adjust timing on a dyno and gained 12rwhp from 2 deg of timing!

To my understanding, TT usually gives you the most power. This also means you have to run higher octane. Keep in mind, "We don't need race dyno's, we race the 1320" wise man says. Acceleration is 'better' than hp/tq on the track.
