Timing sensor on clutch

Heard a rumor today that the SN-95 cars have 2 sensors on the clutch.....one used for starting the car, and one that pulls timing during shifts. Is this true or is it a bunch of crapola?

The pcm will pull spark ANY time the throttle is tipped in from a mostly closed position to wot

Shifting is not necessarily needed for the tip in spark retard to be in effect

Grady is on it, There IS a sensor on the clutch for starting the car though.

well if you think about it the flywheel can very easily be used as a crank position sensor.

this is done on BMW's to assist in "comfort" starting. as far as it pulling timing--i doubt it unless the flywheel is used as a crank sensor then it is possible.

Another vote for the guys here being right on. Seems to me that the TPS is much responsible for tip-in retard.

Where's the one on the clutch? I didn't see it when I did mine. The EEC uses the PIP in the dizzy for the "crank pickup" and if you don't believe me, loosen your distributor, turn the key to run, and crank it around, when it makes contact the fuel pump will kick on.

There is NOTHING on the clutch, flywheel, or any rotating part of the clutch system.

There is a switch on the clutch pedal that keeps you from cranking the motor while the clutch is out.

That pedal switch has NOTHING to do with the spark retard the 94-95 Stangs are known to have.
