Timing

I have a 76mm turbo on a 331. I have my timing set at 28 total Timing. I have been hearing that turbo motors need even less timing than that. It is running a little hot still maybe just a hint of pings much better than when it was at 32deg. Any help or opinions are appreciated.

Depending how much boost you ae making you may find you are in the 20-21 range total....

How is the car being tuned? What cyl head? What spark plug?

Id run a 8, which in the extended reach is a PT# 7173

What size inj? Be best to ditch the FMU if the inj are large enough and tun with the Gen 6. Do you have a good tuner that know the Gen 6, its old school and many guys don't know it, very decent system however.

Isnt the accel gen6 the fmu. The box in the kick panel says accel fuel/spark management on it.

So at the risk of sounding like an idiot I thought FMU meant fuel management unit and i figured that is what the accel box is. Believe me I am getting an education with this car

FMU is a device which has installs in the return line and boost fuel pressure under boost to add fuel. They are standard with most base blower kits so you can run the blower or turbo with a stock or small injector. You can swap disc to change the ratio they add fuel..

The Accel is the Stand Alone EEC or ECU

No I do not have one of those. It does have a fuel pressure regulator on the fenderwell.

The injectors are 55lbs and the pump is 500lph. And the plug by the dist needs to be out when i time it correct? And also any ideas on a/f mix? I dont have a guage yet but will get one in the next week yes it will be wideband
