Im going to take emissions on thursday and if anyone knows any good tips it would really be great, thanx a lot guys
If you need to know more about my car its a 1988 GT Auto With A/c delete kit, the stock h-pipe with smog tube. Flowmaster 40's with tail pipes, BBK shortys. Car is pretty healthy but i have a huge exhaust leak at the headers to h-pipe. Im going to have someone weld it together. Im out of ideas on trying to seal it.

You shouldn't need anything more than a decent running car to pass. If you think the car is running good, it probably is.

If they do a visual inspection of the car they may not pass you with an exhaust leak. I've seen people fail for less. If the emissions requiremsts aren't too bad in il I'd say you have nothing to worrie about being that all of the emissions equipment is hooked up and providing that the cats are in good condition.

You shouls pass without any problems. I have a 331 stroker with the smog stuff on it and the stock H pipe - mods are in my sig and it passed easily. Some tips are...
1. make sure your cats are hot - drive for a few miles before going to the test station and keep the engine running while waiting
2. Run 87 Octane fuel - you may need to retard your timing if you have previously advanced it

Good luck
