Just wanted to say thanks for all the tire advice. I finally brought the car home on Friday, May 20th. I went with Goodyear Eagle GT's. This is a V rated tire and is not as aggressive as some of the recommendations posted here but I liked the idea of using the same brand of Goodyear Eagles that were originally on the car and the fact that they were GT tires seamed like a good match for a 5.0 GT kinda sealed the deal for me.
ALSO, if anyone is interested, you can use a 93 convertible to haul 4 tires in the back seat. When I removed the originals, I wanted to save them so I was able to arrange all 4 in the back seat for the 10 hour trip home.
No problem, I had to pull both drivers and passenger seats forward and fit them tightly in the back seat. All four tires were in tire bags and other than my 6'1" frame being shoved into the front seat in a NASCAR style driving position where I could barely shift and the steering wheel was jammed into my knees and up close to my chest ALONG with the 10 hours of discomfort to get the originals home....... it was easy as pie
I would only recommend this for the slightly insane.
