I'm looking to put 275-40-17 on my stock bullit wheels, just on the back. Which tire brands tend to run on the smaller side? I heard Nittos do. Is there any others?
Kumho's do run narrow. Plus they're the world's crappiest performance tire. The set I put on my old Probe GT were at least 10mm narrower than the Dunlops they replaced. Both were labeled 225 width, but the kumhos looked like 215 when installed. Plus, they had the traction properties of a wet bar of soap. My Blizzak winter tires performed better than those POS Kumhos.

+1 i had those kuhmos on my probe gt as well and they were pretty narrow had 225/40/18s for the kuhmos ecsta 712s and replaced them with yokohama parada spec 2s and the kuhmos looked way narrower.
Nittos also run narrow have them on my 17x9s in 275/40/17s and they look like a 255-265 BFG tire.
As the voice of reason, it is generally not a good idea to run a 275 tire on a 17x8 wheel. They are reserved for a larger width wheel such as a 17x9. Even though they may "look" good doesn't mean they are safe. I would do a search through stangnet for a 17x8 wheel size to show the posts about it.
