Well, now that winter's almost over, it's time to put the 18's back on the car. Before I do, I need to get new tires. I'm wondering how you guys that run the Nitto NT555 feel about their performance in wet weather, because my car is a daily driver, I'll need something that handles in all conditions when the time comes. What does everyone recommend? I want to run a 315 in back, so tire manufacturers are slim when it comes to that wide of a tire in 18" diameters.

I'd recomend the toyo T1r's for an all around tire, I've driven identicle mustangs with nearly every different tire on them through wet and dry conditions and they just flat out hook for a street tire and I had a hard time getting the 295/35-18's to hydroplane on my 98gt, the downside is they only to up to 295's wich really doesnt matter unless you want a larger number on your sidewall because a 315 isnt much wider.

I have a set of toyo T1R on a set of Anthracite FR500 rims that I am selling. they only have maybe 2200 miles on them and the wife drove the car so they were very easy miles at that. 18x9 with 275/35/18 and 18x10 with 295/35/18 very nice tire with very low road nice and the handling was excellent .

Goodyear

I have the Goodyear F1. The sell it as a great performance tire that is incredible on dry and is better than most in wet than they are on dry. Kind of spendy. But they look agressive,,,i won't drive on anything else

Honestly, I loved my nitto triple fives, I really did. BUT, in the rain they are far from a sticky tire. They are strictly dry only for a rwd... I would listen to some of these other suggestons for tires for all season. If they are going to be used on a mild street car and only in the dry weather, Nitto for sure.

I gotta agree with the Toyo guys. I ran the Proxes T1R on my 98GT. 245/40 on front and 275/35/18 on rear. Greatest all season performance tire that I have driven on. Hooked awesome (even in the rain). But as I recall (Juiced may be able to correct me on this) the Nitto's are a low cost Toyo much like Sumitomo is a low cost Goodyear. Not sure if that makes a differance to you, but it popped in my head. Good luck.:nice:

toyo and nitto share all their R&D and actually share some tread designs on certain models so either one will work great.

The goodyear F1 is a ripoff of the toyo T1S wich is about 8 years old and was replaced by the T1R ;)

i have the T1Rs on my green bmw and driving on dry race track there were not much better then the zexuis 326i but in the wet i basicly did not slow down at all . and i was the fastest car on the track in the wet faster then the vetts with the F1s better then the camaro race car on wets and better then the STi adavs i think. Really an amazine tire in the wet.

Im in the same dilemma with my Cobra. I Bought 18x9 and 18x10 Chrome FR500's for it. Choices are limited in the 315 size. Toyos are a great tire but you can only go 295's. Goodyear GSD3's were the number 1 rated performance tire for 3 year running but again only 295's. In my research , Michelin, Pirelli and BF Goodrich KDW2's make a 315 or bigger. I think Yokohama might make one also. I believe you can get a 335/30/18 but the cost is astronimical. Price wise, the BFG's will probably be my choice, 315/30/18's. Anyone running the KDW2's out there. How are they in the wet. I have Nitto 555's now and they SUCK big time in the wet. Dont even have to touch the gas and they break loose. Dry weather only.

I've had pretty good luck with Pirelli PZero Nero M+S all season's for daily driving. Fairly good dry traction, very good wet traction, and in a pinch they'll get you home with a couple inches of snow on the road. Price is decent, and they wear pretty well too. The turn-in is a little squishy when they're brand new, but that is comparing them to Bridgestone RE070's which is kinda unfair...

you cant judge to much based on those ratings... because what I've found personally there not accurate, the only thing I havent driven on are the newer bfg kdw2's but I've heard good things, imo the goodyear gsd3's dont come anywhere near the t1r's in performance the test car I drove with them didnt corner nearly as well in went or dry conditions as the same car with t1r's.

hey man long time no see :D hows it goin?

I have bfg kdw2's on my 18x9 and 18x10's. 265/35 up front and 295/35 in the back. I love how they look and they have a ton of traction when its wet or dry. Granted I'm not putting down a whole lot of power but I was amazed by how good they are in the rain. I actually did a track day in the rain with them on too, and they were great, barely even slowed down. The Nitto's do come in a 315 but from what I have heard they run pretty skinny, I'd bet my 295 bfg's are very close to the 315 nitto's.

i guess i'll just take this opportunity to picture whore a little bit... :D
