Hello guys,

I wrapping up my 5 lug conversion. I need tires now. I have 03 Cobra wheel (10th anver's). My car is lowered 1.5 inch's. I have 95 spindles and ranger axels.

I'm going with nittos. For the rear's i'm going with a 275/40 DR.

The fronts are my concearn.....how much of a difference is a 40 compared to a 45 sidewall.

Meaning would it look "good" if I run 40's in the rear and a 45 up front? Or should I stick with a 40 for the fronts? 245/40's or 245/45's? I throw the bare wheel on the fronts and the wheel looks awfully close to the strut.

I had 245/45 on the stock ponys.....with minor minor rubbing on full lock turns. Any recommendations would be awesome. Thanks

What is the question?

Sidewall height for a 245/45 tire is 3.326"

Sidewall height for a 275/40 tire is 3.867"

That's totally theortical... Overall height is what you need to go for... if the tires are the same heights... Straight off Nittos' site...

275/40's... 25.59 overall height...
245/45's... 25.67 overall...

No REAL difference... And remember... what you said about the sidewall heights is a theory... every manufacture is different.

For the rubbing on turns, throw some rack limiters in the rack. Easy as pie. that is how I helped mine fit.

I have the info here: (third one down in the first post) http://www.centralvalleyspeed.com/forum/showthread.php?t=13

Trophy my earlier calculations were off. I used the wrong method... Please see below for adjusted values. And as Nick pointed out, these numbers are solely based on mathmatical calculations. Each tire manufacturing process will vary slightly and that can change the numbers a little. However, these values can give you an idea of what the size tires you are looking at. The tire sizes are read out in mm (milimeters), % (percentage) & inches respectively. With the R designating radial tires. The main goal for selecting the correct tire size is to figure out your overall tire size so you don't screw up your speedometer and odometer.

*note 25.4mm = 1" for all of us standard measurement folks

We will use the standard tire size of 245/45/17 as an example and then compare it to the stock (turbine) size of 225/60/15

245 = 9.646" wide
45 or 45% of 245 = 110.25 (4.341") size of sidewall
R17 = 17"
Add 17 + 4.341(2) = 25.6811023622"

225 = 8.858" wide
60 or 60% of 225 = 135 (5.314") size of the sidewall
R15 = 15"
Add this all up = 15+5.314+5.314 [remember to double the side wall] = 25.629921"

For a 275/40/17

275 = 10.826" wide
40 or 40% of 275 is 110 (4.331")
R17 is 17"
Add this all up 17 + 4.331(2) = 25.661"
