Tire Size 87 Gt

Hello,

I have the following question:

Will a 225/50/R17 tire on a 8" wide rim in the front of 87 GT rub?
The car is not lowered!!

I can't definitively answer that question, as you did not post the specs of the wheel.
IIRC, the stock 16" tire was a 225/55/16 (25.7"). The 225/50/17s in question are a 25.9" tire and are only a CH taller than the stock tire size. So, pending no complication from the offset of the wheel... they should fit fine.

I have 235/45/17's on a 17x8 rim on the front of my '88 LX. Mach 1 springs...no rubbing. I think i'd be fine with a 245/45/17 as well.


225 is a bit narrow for a 8" rim
