I have the stock alloy rims on my 89gt. it has around 450-500 hp (approx). so i wanted to get a set of nitto 555r's. the tires are 225's on right now, i was wondering what size i could fit on them. any suggestions etc??..??

Running a tire too fat for the wheel will distort the footprint and do more harm than good, and can be dangerous. I take it you have turbines (mulletines), it's ok, you can admit it, I had them too. 15x7 is the measurements. 225/60R15, 235/60R15, and 245/60R15 will all fit well, but they will get taller as you go up in size. I put 265/50R15's on my mulletines once, took them right off, wow it just swayed all over the place.

I have a set of 255/50/16s on my stock pony rims right now, and when i have a person in the back seat or I take a dip too fast the inside tire usually rubs, but they hook when I need em to.. I say if you have some stiffer springs ( I have stock) then you probably wont have any clearance issues. The sidewalls protrude a bit, but I can tell a difference between the last set of 245s vs my 255s on the car now.
