Tire Size

Although it is not a mustang, it is still a ford, so here goes. I have a 91 ford bronco full size, eddie bauer edition. I need some new tires and would like to step it up a few sizes. Does anyone know if a 33x12.50.15 will fit on my truck at stock height? I have airbags in the front coils for the plow, so i can lift the front an inch or so. a bit of rubbing at full lock is not a problem, (i dont spend much time at full lock anyway). If the 33 wont fit, what is the biggest size i can go? any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

thanks

Don't know Nick - probably need to get into a Bronco forum where they make those mods all the time. Keep in mind, that big ole tall tire has the same effect as putting a real long gear in one. Acceleration will be reduced - both because it'll be llike pulling a longer gear, and because the engine has to overcome the inertia of a much bigger, heavier wheel and tire. Braking may be negatively impacted for the same reason.

Cool, thanks for the fast inputs. I was thinking the same thing about acceleraction and braking. The truck only has the base 5.0 in it now, so its no power house. I'm gonna try some more research and see where it can get me. Gas mileage aint so good either!! :notnice: thanks again

I have an 88 eddie bauer bronco I use for a plow truck. I have a set of 33/12.5/r15's on it right now, with air shocks. Also the full size bronco's all come with 351's as far as I know?

Unfortunatley the eddie bauers came with the 5.0 base, the 351 was an option for them. I will have to do some work to "help" this 302 a bit. Its no powerhouse, runs beautifuly with only 72,000 miles on it tho. I'm looking for a cat-back exhaust system for it, most likely the flowmaster but i want to get a system with tailpipes for each side, the only ones i find are just passenger exits only.

thanks guys
Nick

Might be easier just to have your local muffler shop bend you a set of tailpipes - lots of room to work on those full size Broncos. Careful though -- sometimes folks notice that putting a big, free flowing exhaust system on helps peak HP a bit, but at the expense of bottom end. And I don't think you want to lose any bottom end.
