I have a 1990 GT I just bought a set of Ford Racing 17x8 Cobra R's what tire size do I need to go with the clear the smaller fender? I was thinking about 235/45R17's or does someone else have a better alternative size? Thanks.

For the front I would not go any bigger than 245s could go a few sizes bigger in the rear if you wanted just check the clearance with your quad shocks. I run 245s all the way around and I have a 1.5 inch drop in the front.

When I had the sway bar instaled they did not rub at all. Now they only rub under a hard turn over 30mph but thats casue of taking the sway bar out my car handles like a boat. I have the cobra R wheels 16 X 8 and tires are 245 50 16 so if your runnning 17s you can go with a 45 or 40 tire you will be very close to the same as mine.

I have 17x8 and 17x9 AFS Cobra R knock offs on my 87 LX with 235-45's on the front and 255-45's out back. No rubbing issues of any kind and the quads are still in place

I don't have the rims on my car yet but they are 17x8 rims, I have 2 1/2 tubing but I don't think your 3" tubing would rub on the exhaust maybe just to be safe go with 17x8's.

Do you have any rubbing when you turn sharp? with my car being a GT & having the body cladding would that make less room than a LX?

Yes, it still rubs on the inner fenders at full lock. I just learned not to crank the wheel all the way. My car is also lowered
