Hey all,
I have a 1965 Mustang Coupe. Ever since i have had the car it has the typical front end tire squeel upon hard acceleration. i have heard that they did this from the factory and have heard of many ways to fix this, but I wanted to know if anyone has had any luck fixing this problem, and if so what did you do. i have lowered the front end 1 inch by cutting the coils and have put new shocks, control arms the whole nine yards.
thanks

Does it just do it under acceleration? I bought a cheap set of lower ball joints several years ago, and every time I would accelerate hard to where the nose of the car would rise, the tires would squeal terribly and the nose would get hung up high until I slammed on the brakes causing the front end to dive down, then it would be fine. Turns out those cheap ball joints I got were failing in a very unusual way - the balls were moving up and down in the socket, and this was causing the suspension to bind and get hung up. Got decent lower control arms the second time around, problem went away. Rest of suspension was stock. Not sure if that is your problem, but it's worth a shot to look at each suspension component to check for any unusual failure.

Interesting! Im having the same problem with all new (ebay) front end parts on my car. This is not the first time Ive redone this style suspension, and I had a wicked problem to track down before, so Ive been down this road before- and with successful results.

This was way before ebay, I think I got the parts from a company called Kanter(sp) about 20 years ago. The lower balls were the only ones I had trouble with, though. Replaced them with a good set from Virginia Mustang Supply (now Virginia Classic Mustang), never had another problem.
