So I'm ready to go bigger I'm still running on the 225s that came on my manual 91 notchback with a 3.73. I have some 15x10 wheels already so I'm looking to get some input on which tires will be good for street use and still will hold up at the strip. I only go once in a while with friends. I would like to go with a 295/50R15 tire so I found some BF Goodrich Radial T/A but was curious about Nitto 555R 275/50R15. Which one would be better for street and some track? Or any other tire suggestion will be appreciated.

I don't think that 295 will fit. The section width is 11.6.
I ran a set of hoosier 28x11.5,claimed section width is 11.2
(probably wider) and i had to do a LOT of BFH work on the
inner,and cut the lip.
At moderate power levels the Nitto 555 works well.

What was your experience with them? How where they on the street?

I like the Nitto's but honestly they can get a little squirely in the rain with too much power.. I just put on a set of Comp 2's instead of going with 555's and am very impressed so far.

I'm on my second set of "summer only" BFG sport comp 2's and I like them a lot. They do not run "narrow" for their size like other tires do (nitto).

I'm actually going to pick up a set of Comp-2's for my car as well.

Debating getting 255/45/17's out back.

Yeah I'm waiting till Friday to order some 255/50/16's for the rear and I'm hoping it will be enough.

How much power are you making? Suspension details? And planned usuage? For a street car those will be plenty of tire. Track...not easy to get good results, especially with a manual trans

Not really sure on how much power I'm running picked up the car 6 months ago and have been slowly upgrading things. But has upgraded rear control arms and lowering springs. Mainly a street car with some trips to the track. I'm just tired of not getting any traction till 3rd gear.
