TKO or T5Z?

I am stuck on getting a T5Z or Tremec TKO500. It would be nice to have the extra 200 ft/lb torque handing of the TKO (in case I ever got crazy down the road), but at about ~$600 less, the 330 ft/lb T5Z looks mighty appealing. Anybody using a T5Z and wish they got a Tremec TKO500 (or vice versa)? Also, who has the best deal on trannies (new or used, doesn’t matter as long as the warranty and support are there). I found this site that gives a two year from purchase and six month from install warranty, which is good since I am still gathering parts for my AOD to manual tranny swap in my 88 LX 5.0. Thanks!

A t5z is a waste of time and money. Either spend the money and do it RIGHT with a tremec/G force or put a used/cheap T5 back in.

i have a t5z... i only bought b/c it was a near by seller and i needed a tranny (5 speed swap). TKO vs. T5Z... its not even a question.. the TKO is twice as strong.

I had my T5 modded to Z specs with a 2.95 gear set. I love it and since I will never have more than 300 hP at the rear wheels I think it will be strong enough. It cost me less than $1,200 installed.
