Hey Kurt, did you index the bell? The 95 I bought in 2016 has a lakewood scattershield and I'm removing it for this 331 setup. I have the appropriate bell to use and talking to a few guys that I know personally, they have never indexed any Tremec they've had and didn't have any issues.
Yes, and I had to make an adjustment. There is a video of how to do it on my Magnum install thread that is very good. It has nothing to do with the quality of the bellhousing. The crank line honing process done to the engine can cause the crankshaft to not be exactly centered in the block causing misalignement with the transmission input shaft. It's generally not required for factory engines that were assembled OEM by Ford. Like if you took a stock 5.0 car from 30 years ago and just through a transmission on it, you would most likely be fine. Any engine that has been built outside of a Ford OEM plant absolutely needs to be indexed. It's a simple process, and it just requires a few offset dowels to make it right. No reason to fear the index process.
