To anyone who has successfully replaced the HU in a 01+ Mach 460

Okay, I've been searching forums up and down and can't seem to find any definative answers. What I want to do is replace only the head unit in my 01' Mach 460 setup. I know the whole story about using the amps and the difference in ohms. I have looked at the adaptors from Scosche and want to know if I can make it work using the following:

Now it is my understanding that this would make the new head unit work with the existing speakers. My only concern is that I've heard that the tweeters are powered off of an amp that is housed in the original HU. Is this true? If so, how can I power the tweeters? Or am I way off here? I have a 2001 mustang with the MAch 460 and added an after market headunit. What you need is the MEtra Wiring Harness 70-5519. Thats what i used, and there is no need for a line level converter or anything like that, just plug it in and go. That is when i used the rest of the Mach 460. Now im using the headunit to power the front tweeters as well as after market front door speakers, and using the mach 460 amp to push the rear 6x8's with the rear tweets disconnected. But the metra harnes is what you need

I used that level converter when I put one in my car, but it didn't make any difference. I dont even know what it does anyways. But I didn't take it out because I didn't wanna take the time to get my money back for it. I just left it, I'll maybe need it sometime

I'm not too familiar with level converters. How do you go about setting one up? I could probably figure it out if I had one in front of me, but I haven't decided if I'm going to change the HU out yet or not.

There is NO need for a level converter when you use the Metra harness. the reason i used the metra one was so i didnt have to play with a level converter. its worth the 20 dollars or what ever it is. it is actually cheaper then buying the level converter + harness. thats my 2 cents. And it worked awesome and was so very simple to install so you can use ALL your mach stuff with the aftermarket deck.
