This is like beating a dead horse but here goes anyway-

After installing the Diablo ship the car is shifting out of first at about 6K. I've heard that the car won't accelerate in any other gear at any rmp as hard as it does in first gear. 6,000 rpm seems really high to me and some of you agree. But before I send this chip back to lower the shift rpms I wanted to get one final vote. Is 6K too high to shift out of first with a performance chip? I was thinking it might have something to do with how hard it shifts into second or something about it being more in the powerband when it hits second gear ie; if it leaves first at 6,000 then it hits second a little higher in the rpm range to provide more accleration in 2nd. So what do you guys think?

Thanks (again)

6k might be right for 1-2 shift, but those after that should probably come at lower rpms to be just right - have to do the math. To calculate shift points you really need a dyno torque/HP curve and your transmissions ratios (gears don't affect this as they are the same multiplier in all gears. I set my shift points so that I hit on or near the peak torque point for each gear. I try to keep the rpm between the peak torque and max HP - for me hitting peak torque after the shift is more important as that is where you get maximum acceleration toward peak HP. For me, before my changes this last winter, that was 6K (1-2), 5.6K (2-3) and 5.2K (3-4) shift points.

Well, maybe I'll run it at the track befor sending it back. It just seems like the engines about to blow at 6K. I guess as long as its not past red line there shouldn't be any damage. Theres two tunes and it only does it on the performance tune.
