To buy or not to buy...Performer RPM

There's one for sale locally, and I have no idea if he's asking a good price or not. I can get it for $300 out the door. The guy ported the lower some and gasket matched to a Felpro 1262. The only problem is that theres a small crack on the upper manifold rear mounting hole. I would imagine I'll just slap a good bit of JB weld on it or maybe get a local guy to weld it. Is $300 a good deal or should I see if he'll come down? I'm not sure he'll budge much, but I guess we'll see....Thoughts?

Are you running stock heads? that felpro 1262 is pretty big...the normal lower intake gasket is the 1250 IIRC. I think that would leave you with a horrible restriction at the heads. I think an intake like that would be much better matched to a AFR 185, TW, or canfield headed combo with a cam ground to take advantage of that flow and higher powerband.

You would probably loose a substantial amount of low end TQ...and with stock heads and cam...it would still die out at 5200 rpm.

I would save your money for a ported performer or trick flow intake...especially if you have stock heads. And if the thing is cracked who wants to lay out 300 bucks for an intake with a broken/cracked mounting tab....JB would not be the answer for that application.

i paid 190 bux for two ears to be replaced on minel. I got the intake for free tho so it was a no brainer for me. The ears were snapped off completely and they had to put it onto the mill after they made the new tabs, so that it would sit flush and all
