To cage or not to cage

Hey guys, thought to post poll but think I'll just ask instead.
If you were building around a 500hp mustang and plan to take it to the track occationally, would you cage it? If I installed a cage, it will be because I would need it. It's probably borderline on hp level. Acually, I wish I could just get by with weld in sf connectors. I do not know what those hp levels feel like on a street car I just do not want to jack something up if I go putting sticky tires on and launching hard. The car is also a standard. As always, open for suggestions.

IMO w/the correct set-up you should be in the 11's easily. That will equate to a cage. If you do decide to cage it buy the swing out kit so you can drive it on the street and not have to climb over the bar to get in/out. I won't stand on the 'safety soapbox', but if you needed the cage you'll be glad you put it in.

Remember that a cage will also stiffen up the chasis which will transfer more of the power to the rear instead of wasting it via twisting of the cars body. I'm a fan of cages/bars. BTW, 8 pt or less is a bar and 10 pts or more is a cage.

I should just stick to my gut feeling, and at least put a 6 pt in it. If I were to put a 6 or 8 pont in it, would it be goofy to just put lap belts in it? I do not think I want the all out race look as far as seats go.

I dont see an issue with running lab belts with a cage..Just make sure your seat is high enough in the seat back area that you wont hit your head on the cage if your head snaps back. (if the cage gets a cross bar). I'm caging my car and im putting in 5 point harnesses. I dont trust the lab belts in a crash.

There is nothing wrong with crawing over door bars.

When or if I install one, it will be as hidden as possible. The cross hoop that goes over your head along with the bars over the the windows will most likely be hidden behind a molded fiberglass sub roof if you will. Kind of like the Boyd Coddington corvette that was built with the 1500hp Nelson race motor.
As far as seats/belts, I want everything to be safe, but also user friendly.
