Well I LOVE the look of cobra's and I already have a front cobra bumper on the car, would I be sinning if I put on a cobra hood, rear bumper and emblems with a steering wheel also?? I mean, I have a 331 with H/C/I so it would walk the walk or should I just do the front bumper, hood and leave it as a GT??? I don't want to made fun of here when im done

Your car far exceeds an oem cobras performance so I don't think its a big deal.

yeah i agree about not doing emblems or logos. I put a cobra front bumper on mine and plan to get a Cobra R hood, but i'm keeping all the GT emblems and rear bumper.
It would be pretty expensive to make a 100% accurate cobra clone (unless you found a good donor car somewhere)...you'd need a new trunk deck and spoiler, gauge cluster, brakes, airbag covers, etc.

Humm the rear brakes are gone for sure for some baer 13's. I just love the look of a cobra with the letters across the rear bumper but i've put so much into my GT... What do I do? Do I make a cobra clone???

I have a trunk and spoiler, white guages, front cobra bakes, and would get the air bag cobers and rear brakes and bumpers in a heart beat!!

Clones are fine, doing the emblems is another, does not matter how much power you make you still dont have a real cobra and the badges pass it off as such. just my .02.

WE had this "discussion" last week. I was gonna put a Cobra bumper on front AND rear, along with the hood. The concensus was as here...NO.. The same thing though was said...hood and front bumper..nothing else.

Here's my take:

If YOU really want it DO IT!! I was 50/50...could go either way. In THAT case, I would go alont with the crowd, since it wasnt a STRONG desire either way. I didnt want to spend the extra mony on the exterior..

Good Luck!

I am not one who cares and will probably get some cobra emblems on the side at most. I just do not like the GT on the side....I may do a old school 5.0 though if I do not get the snakes.

Really it is no big deal. The parts are out there to make a car a cobra clone and you can go back to the "pure" GT without too much hassle. Its not like your cutting up a MR2 to make a fake exotic.

Plus the 2 emblems are what 25$ or so??? who cares...I dont....lets race and be glad its not a neon having honda.

My friend had a 91 LX H/C/I with a HP turbo kit 478 RWHP and 500+ RWTQ and I still make fun of him for having cobra badges on it and he sold it years ago. Its just like anything else, fine do a Saleen body kit but keep the name saleen off the car. Your cars a GT not a Cobra, it should not be sporting Cobra badges those are sacred and just for Cobras or should be. No amount of power or mods justifies the use of Cobra badges on a non Cobra. Unless you have a build number from Ford saying your car is XXXX number out of XXXX then its not the same.

Its a free country and my car...your opinion is yours mine is mine. People can make fun of whatever they want...I would expect nothing less from a very good friend. A real gearhead IMHO does not care, its what makes the car "his". Ford may have gave me the canvas but the rest is all me. I only feel a few things in life justify the term sacred God, family, life, country. Passion is what I would call it and that is open for each one of us to define on our own.

I know my car is a GT not a cobra I have never said it was a cobra...I am not getting cought up on a name or paper saying its special IMHO all mustangs are special...look around you in everyday life and a lot of people wish they could have a mustang or want one most do not know a 93 from a 94 if you told them only about what year you have.

Me its not about being a real cobra but I do like some of the looks. I specificly bought a GT as I knew I was going to tear into it at some point and did not see the point of doing that to a real cobra or paying a premium out the box to do so. If they are special (and I do think for historic sake they are) why mod them and make them less than what they are? I do 100% get your point when it comes time to sell...if your trying to pass it off as a real cobra to get the premium they get. If I got a cobra (I almost bought a 96 right before I bought my 94, and may look into getting a 93 cobra in a few years) I would leave it fairly stock.

I meant the "race" thing as that is why we are into these cars or atleast what got us into them at one point or another. Enjoy the hobby that is all anyone MUST do...or it will go away.

Like everyone says do it just dont badge it as one...I was actually gonna just put pony emblems on my fender with a "mustang" bumper on my gts..i think its cool to badge your car as a lesser model but not as a better model...youl be just like the kid with the type r badges even if you have more than a real cobra its kinda silly but the front bumper and hood look good imo on a gt

I love the Cobra on the Front grill...Since it doesnt say "cobra" and the Cobras did not come with that...technically, it's not trying to copy anything...BUt it looks nice!

screw that holy grail crap....if they are that sacred why do a 351 swap into it. Or change anything for that matter. Popycock put them badges on there if you like them they are bad ass badges.

I might throw them on there after I paint my car but when people ask me I will just say "Ford couldn't build this one so I built this one myself."

I say do what floats your boat, its your car. Heck, put a snorkel on the roof if thats what you like. Be ready to be flamed by some, but thats just part of making something "yours." Some will like it, some will not.
