To rebuild, or not rebuild.........thats the question

Hey guys
I am replacing the clutch on my 88 5.0L
now the car has 232,000 kms........and I suspect it's had a rough life

Now being the tranny is out, i will save on the R&R $ that a tranny shop would charge. My question is should I bit the bullet, and rebuild it now, or later

It's grinding going into reverse, and hard to get into gears, but I suspect thats the worn clutch, and the bad adjustment on the cable

Reverse doesn't have a synchro, so it is normal to grind. Put it another gear first, then reverse, it shouldn't grind then. Try resetting the clutch by pulling up on the clutch pedal. You should hear a click. this "ratchets" the clutch adjustment back into place. (assuming it doesn't have a firewall adjuster, and that the stock one isn't broken).

lets make sure this is clear.....

you put you're foot under the clutch pedal and lift up....?
My tranny also grinds when I put it into reverse sometimes. "Put it another gear first, then reverse, it shouldn't grind then." By another gear you mean first gear correct? I don't think my tranny allows you to go from any other gear to reverse.....never really tried.

the grind into reverse is embarrassing though.

I usually throw it into fifth then reverse so it doesnt grind. But people say that wears the already weak 5th gear synchro.

it grinds regardless...............the clutch is so badly worn
I don't think my clutch has a adjustment, the cable was just attached to the pedal with a clip.............I know it seamed wierd to me too, but it was
