I can see this being an awsome car in a year or two if Ford puts a little more styling in it (like they did with current model after it came out). Special editions could also be really cool.

Yea..I mean lookit the Sn95 stock when it first came out its all tall and goofy but once you have after market bumpers and ppl putting rims and lowering them they will look real good...also after the first year you might see a lil difference in styling of the bumpers..(ui dont really like the front bumper) but look at the 03 Cobra they took the 99+ styling added two bumpers and it looks so hot and beefy

Well, Kelley Blue Book is entitled to their opinion, but being simply a car price guide isn't exactly the best credentials for judging such things.

There is exciting "retro" and there is boring "old fashion".

IMHO, retro works best with vehicles, when it isn't based off an actual vehicle made way back when. For example, the PT Cruiser's retro styling works, because there wasn't actually a PT Cruiser made back in the 50's. The PT Cruiser just looks like it could have been. Another example is that the SSR works, because there wasn't actually an SSR made back in the 50's.

In contrast, when a new design tries to repeat an actual design used many, many years ago (but hasn't been used for years since), it doesn't come off as cool "retro", but instead, it comes off looking simply old and tired. Not fresh at all.

I like the redesign. I don't know alot of cars that I LOVE more then a 60's mustang. In my line of favorite mustang's the new one doesn't come in until after the 60's and 70's bodies. The 80's are my LEAST favorite body style.

I think my favorite is the '69 or '70.

However, I think if I wanted a '68 fastback, I would rather have an actual '68 fastback, and not a new "replicar" pretending to be one.

For all you -5 Mustang haters, read the following carefully over and over again.

From the M/T article:

In the slalom the new Mustang feels alltogether more precise, predictable and stable than the car it replaces. The firmer platform is better suited to allowing the suspension and tires to do their jobs more effectively. Where the old car slides as a whole past each cone (unpredictabley at that) the 2005 bites hard on initial turn-in, trasfers weigth in the blink of an eye, and manages rear roll-steer far better. Just a hint of opposite-direction wheel input brings the rear end back in line with an authortative snap, ready for the next cone. The best run was over 66 MPH, better than any previous Mustang except for the race-ready Cobra R of 2000. In typical Mustang fashion, the new car lapses into terminal understeer in the slower-speed skidpad test, but still manage a Cobra-like 0.84g orbit. In case you are wondering how the new Mustang stacks up against the GTO: The American pony is faster and nimber than the Austrialian-bred goat, automatic or manual -

And note that this is on those high sidewall all weather tires you guys have been pissing and moaning about. Imagine what the '05 Stang will do when it gets those 18" performance tires on it.

No regrets at all. Having an actual 'vert to drive for a couple of years vs. having nothing more than a paper dream for those years, is so much more fun!
