Are the Bilsteins worth the extra money? They are almost double the price of a set of non-adjustable Tokico Struts/Shocks (Tokico Premium Performance). My car has H&R lowering springs and is riding really rough on the stock shocks right now. I don't really want adjustable strut/shocks, I just want shocks that are a good mix between performance and ride quality. Any suggestions?

Dont want adjustables? Bilstein hands down. I thought I didnt want adjustables either, until I came across a good deal on my Tokico Ilumminas. Now Im stoked. I ride around with it semi stiff for good stability on the highway. But if someone wants to challenge me, or on Friday nights, Ill lower them all the way down so I can hook and book. Best of both worlds. But Bilstein is better if you have zero intrest in drag racing. I dont think the regular Tokico blues are enough shock for an H&R anyhow.

Bilstein hands down. They may seem like they cost a lot but the control of the ride is unbelieveable. You go over a bump, feel it, and there is absolutely no bob or shimmy whatsoever. They are an excellent shock and do smooth out after they have begun breaking in but they do not lose their efficiency at all it seems like. Very well worth the extra money in my opinion.

yes the biilstiens hand down...but if you want to compare adjustables to bilsteins....then I say go adjustbal and the adj. ones would be the same price as the bils.

Bils all the way. The quality of the Bils is in the same category as the Koni adjustables, so Tokico isn't even in the same league in any form. The Bils may be more money, but take into account that they have a lifetime gaurantee, and they don't seem so expensive anymore. I've been thrilled with mine.

If you have the extra $'s go with the Bilsteins, you won't be sorry that you did.

Yep, I've only got my fronts in yet (no time! dammit) and it still rocks, sooo much better than the stock stuff.

Get Bilsteins.

Thanks for all the opinions guys. I think I am going with the Bilsteins, if I've learned anything so far with cars its to do it right the first time.

You're on the money - they're all I've run on cars and trucks for the last 20 years. However, be sure you talk to them about your ride height. If you get a stock height shock/strut and you've significantly lowered the car, you may bottom out the shock on compression (big bumps) which can damage it. I suspect your ride quality issues have much to do with your spring choice - and the Bilstein's will help - but may not significantly improve things in that area.
