just weld in cutouts before the cats. This way its only loud when your gonna race. And theyre cheap.
But to answer your q, the chances of being pulled over depend on where you live.

OK, thanks for the tips guys. I already have no mufflers or tailpipes. Just the factory H and that's it. I personally wouldn't have done that, but the previous owner did it b/c he said the stock exhaust was too quiet. He offered me the stock tailpipes, but I said no. And at the time I was going to get a MAC catback, but decided to do a gear swap instead. I got the gear and I kept missing 3rd, sometimes even 2nd, so I purchased a Tri-ax. Now I'm ready to save up for an exhaust and **** if work didnt shut down for nearly 3 weeks. Now I'm really in a bind. I have $110 insurance due on the 27th and my job pays from wednesday to wednesday. So my first paycheck back is only gonna run about $50. Then next Saturday, I'll get $100. So I'm left with $40 for two weeks. Bunch of BS. I know a guy willing to give me some Flowmaster 40s with that are ready to hook to my H for $50. That's why I was asking. Tomorrow, I'm off to the JY

Dude your running open pipes now and asking how loud its gonna be with mufflers? You will hear it but your not gonna get a ticket for it. Everybody and there mothers has an o/r h and flows, hell i do, cops would go crazy if they pulled everyone over that had them. Like said before spending the 250 bucks in mufflers isnt gonna get you to beat him. If i was you, id get the mufflers like you want, you will not get pulled over for them, and then wait like 2 paychecks, port intake and throw a cam on there, and you should be making some decent power, maybe mid-high 200's. Maybe some traction parts and you should be good to beat him.

I don't think think the exhaust will beat him, but the exhaust and GT40s. I'm gonna wait on a cam. Don't feel like spending dough on a MAF swap. I just didn't know if the cats being removed would push it over the edge. I've got another intake to mess with, but I'm not gonna mess with it if I can get the Explorer.

Well thanks for the help guys. I was kinda pissed off about the whole money issue today, plus the guy w/ the Flows sold them to someone else for $75, BUT dad said he'd cosign on a $500 loan for me. WOOHOO
