Cams suck, they installed them in a mag in an 01 bullit....well just to clear some things up, I will list the HP gain of performance parts on an 01 bullit.Ok mod #1 Hypertech power programmer III, bone stock it added 8 lb-ft and 4hp peak and those gains were typical throughout the curve...it was also removed for the time being so it would not affect the other products hp gains.
#2. Jba cat4ward SHORTIE headers added 9HP and 8.5lb-ft peak, and no loss in any other part of the curve.
#3 Steeda UD pullies( btw it states that bullits came with an underdiven crank pully from the factory, so a regular GT should see more HP) none below 3500RPMS, but after that it made a peak of 6RWHP and 8 lb-ft.
#4. N/A for GT.
#5. K&N filter, power went from 258 RWHP and 310lb-ft to 259RWHP and 314 lb-ft...btw the RPM at which peak torque was made dropped down 100RPM. (the lower the better usually)
#6. 3.73 gears, they noted that the SOTP was not as much as they expected but it felt snappier, just not brutal. The car ran 13.82 @ 101, I guess the clocked it on the street like C&D does...they said "about 2 tenths quicker on a real drag strip". Hope that clears things up, people on hear say crap like shortie headders do nothing and UD pullies give like 2hp or something...guess that just proved them wrong. (funny noone has ANY proof that shorties do nothing and that UD pullies do almost nothing, some wiseguy just makes this up and everyone seems to follow )

Ok now the cams, they are crower stage 2 cams, gave 17.5 peak, but lost 11.2 peak, below 4600-4700 RPMs BOTH torque and HP was down, in some ares torque was down a good 30-35 lb-ft, and hp seemed to be down around 10HP. IMO cams are NOT worth it. Hope all this helps. Just read the above post, maybe Comps are better but after seeing the dyno results of the crowers, I will not buy cams, and if you guys can give some proof that comp cams give 30HP then I will say its a good mod (and no crappy "inhouse" comp dyno either, we need an outside source to be acurate), cant really go off of what people say, when they pay $600 for some cams they are going to make theirselves feel a 30HP difference LOL.

*sigh* THOSE cams did that. VT stage II cams WILL not lose HP ANYWHERE, and WILL gain over 30 peak and even gained as much as 45-50 in SOME areas of the curve. Modular depot has quite a few 2v's with cams, just spend a lil while over there and you will learn something about cams on a 2v, THEY ARE FAR FROM NOT WORTH IT....

Dyno proof anyone? Yea I can say that my Dr gas O/R X gave me 50 HP too.Im not being hard core here, its just that I am tired off all the false info, and for your info I think crower has been around just a tad bit longer than VT. When someone coughs up a dyno, then I will believe that VT is better.

I would agree with you too, but if you're going to do cams, you might as well just install the headers while your in there.

As for the cheap set up:
* STEEDA CAI ($250) - I hear it gives documented 12rwhp
* Gears ($150 for the gears, $200 install, $80 gear oil, $80 speedcal)
* Accufab Throttle Body and Plenum ($450 + install )
* SLP or Magnaflow Exhaust, or maybe a Dr. Gas midpipe (I head dr. gas is the best for hp gains) - $400ish

I'd think with those mods above, you'd feel quite a bit of difference

Let's not forget that most stangs are not stock, and should/would respond slightly better to ANY modification.

The combination of mods are worth more than any ONE mod by itself.

On a (completely) stock car replacing the cams might have a lesser effect because the mod is in the middle of the role of the combustion process. Free up the intake side and the exhaust side(like most mustangs already are) and I'll bet those gains would be more impressive. Just my .02.

I personally want cams..........after gears!

Here are some stage 1 cams for yah......stock car........great gains.......stage 1.....did I mention they are only the stage 1 cams.......your awesome crower cams were out performed by stage 1's? can't be, they have been around longer I'm just givin you a hard time man. Cams are awesome on our cars, if you dont believe me thats all fine, just spend a minute or two with that search button and you will change your mind.
