Nitrous
Long Tubes
Cams
O/R Mid pipe
Gears(even thought it does add RWHP) feels like it tho..

long tubes - no. unless you do the install. long tubes RWHP gain compared to the money put into it is just rediculous. :(

i would say, for the money:

-nitrous
-o/r mid pipe
-gears (for 1/4 time)
-cams are still expensive, but a good HP mod compared to long tubes

something along those lines maybe?

Um he wants power.

1. electric water pump (probably not the best for a DD, when it goes your stranded, pretty much no warning.) $320
2. O/R X (illegal, but worth it) $300
3. Timing adjuster $150
4. trick flow upper plenum (around 6RWHP by itself) $139
5. magnaflow or slp catback, both add around 9 RWHP (SLP almost $400, magnaflow $460...discount on part shopper right now so <$460)

I personally belive thats a good setup for power vs dollar. BUT 1-4 have side affects. #1 is not extremely reliable, yea I am taking the risk. #2 is illegal, and you cant get it inspected (need to swap every year), you also need MIL elims or engine light will come on. #3 forces you to use premium gas if you want much of any power (ie 10) and has been known to cause bucking at low rpms. #4 has been known to cause idle problems (ie idle surge or fast idle)...#5 just makes the car louder and sound better, not really a side affect IMO, but they say that the SLP loud mouth cat back can get VERY loud with O/R mid pipes. That about covers it, but you may be better off with the other guys mods for a daily driver.

I think there's a lot of bang for your buck with a handheld tuner like a DiabloSport Predator for $350. You gain a bunch of torque and horsepower and you save a buttload of money on future mods like:

$80 for a speedcal if you get gears later
$50 on MIL Elims if you get an offroad midpipe later
$120 on a timing adjuster you won't need
$50-200 on a shift kit if you have an auto
$200+ on an OBDII code reader

... and you'll be set to purchase and load a custom tune via email.

I would agree with you too, but if you're going to do cams, you might as well just install the headers while your in there.

As for the cheap set up:
* STEEDA CAI ($250) - I hear it gives documented 12rwhp
* Gears ($150 for the gears, $200 install, $80 gear oil, $80 speedcal)
* Accufab Throttle Body and Plenum ($450 + install )
* SLP or Magnaflow Exhaust, or maybe a Dr. Gas midpipe (I head dr. gas is the best for hp gains) - $400ish

I'd think with those mods above, you'd feel quite a bit of difference :nice:

Biggest gain I have ever heard of with the Plenum/tb is in the shootout thread. What was it, like 6-8...at peak...beh, thats almost 90/hp...how is thats $/HP efficient. Most efficient use of money for the big mods on our car is
1)nitrous $800/100+rwhp
2)blower $4000/100+
3)cams $550/30-40
4)turbo $7000/130+
As for the smaller mods
tb/plenum $450/~6-8
O/R X pipe $250-400/~5-8rwhp
headers $250-500/~3-8
CAI $230/bling bling & ~2
K&N $40/no bling, still ~2
Just doesn't make sense getting the little stuff unless you have a direct reason, for me, exhaust only went on because of the sound, otherwise that money would be in the n2o/cams fund. Dont have to listen to me obviously, but just dont believe the hp figures that people just throw around on the internet. Alot of people here seem to be convinced that these little mods are magically gonna make 12-15hp and it just aint gonna happen on a N/A motor...period..

I was under the impression there is only a 15 - 20hp gain. What cams are you talking about? If those numbers are accurate, I know what I'm getting next :nice:
Check out all the threads on Modular Depot. Just do a search for cams. There is an 01 GT, lemme see if i can find the link that gained well over 30 when bone stock with just cams. Stage II of course will net you over 30 for sure, although more than one have got 30+ with VT stage I's, just not as nice of a curve..
Edit: Here's a nice thread about it, several good examples, although, only a handful that don't have ported heads, that shows the real gains! :nice: http://forums.modulardepot.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=38624&highlight=cam+dyno

Also, check out Nickthegenious's car, he gained a TON with just the comp 270's, over 30 for sure.. Our motors NEED cams! Cams + n2o on our motors = :owned:
