Hey all, this is a question thats been on my mind that I'm sure neaely everyone with a 5.0 has asked themselves at one point in time or another: What is the best top end kit out there? While I am on a budget I also don't want to go cheap and end up with a terrible combo in the end. I have a 94 GT thats essentially my daily driver that I would love nothing more than to breathe some more life into. So the major issue here is what is the best kit I can get? Or, is there a combination that I can put together myself to maximize power on a budget. The motor is stock but for a bbk cold air intake. My goal at the end of the road is to have 300rwhp streetable Mustang that I can enjoy driving and still run fairly decent at the local strip.
Thanks for your time!

im completely all about the TFS top end kits... either the street or the track is good IMO... i went with more or less the tfs street kit w/ just a few changes here or there(ie: different cam then the kit, diff rockers, etc.)

Ditto. But budget and 300rwhp don't go together. It will cost you. Now, if I were to do it over, I would have prolly slapped a turbo on it. Much more potential power and you can crank it up at your convenience.

You bet ... There is more than one method to accomplish your objective

The TFS kit has produced many combos around the 300 mark

You can piece together a combo which is what I did

All you gotta do is start looking at the combos members have done
and you will quickly see the trends start to develope

A thought or two for you ... based upon NA only

As Keith has said ... To make 300 or better
Well ......
I don't know if I'd call it a ...BUDGET ... combo

You ain't gonna do it with a gathering of OEM parts scrounged up
at bargain basement prices

Cutting to the chase ... well thought out AFTERMARKET parts

Also ... since this is your DD ... you will want a custom tune to make it
behave like a little stocker

Another thing ... at 300 or better ... it ain't gonna be gas friendly

Well ... kinda sorta ... BUT ... not really

Yes ... it will get high teens or maybe a hair above 20 mpg on the road
but
Around town ... if you build it right ... it will be torquey
thus
It will be REALLY HARD not to wanna play around ... ALL THE TIME
therefore
You will get really sucky gas mileage :Word:

just a random rambling or two

TFS was my original consideration and was within what i consider to be a budget as far as my car is concerned. I am absolutely NOT putting a turbo in my car. While I recognize the potential for power there is nothing I hate more than the sound of a blow-off valve on an American car (especially Mustangs!!!) And gas milage is not my concern lol. That is a sacrifice I am willing to make.

I've been looking at the edelbrock performer heads and intake.. fair price and people seem to be making good power from them. Also completely bolt-on really..

If you have an aftermarket hood and don't mind switching to the fox setup, the holley systemax kit is the way to roll IMO.
