I've got an '01 Cobra convertible, stock. The car pulls strong to 100-105 in 4th, no problem. When I go to 5th, I don't get much of a speed increase, it goes to 110-115, but doesn't seem to want to stretch it's legs any further. I really expected it to top out much higher, but it almost seems restricted. Has anyone else experienced this type of thing? :bang:

Thanks

My car pulls to 150 no problem, you just need a long enough path to get it there. I'm taking it that you're not redlining through every gear. I can stay in fourth gear till (not 100% sure on this) about 140-145, maybe faster. If you're not redlining, try that. This was also when I had the stock 3:27 gears, I've only put about 600 miles on my 4:10's and I haven't had a chance to let the car open up since. Did you just buy that Cobra, maybe it has a high gear ratio (4:88) or maybe 4:56, which will cause a decrease in your top end speed.

youre defenitely not taking it high enough into 4th before you shift, i get about 140 out of the very top of 4th too, 5th is pretty much useless with a stock cobra unless you are shifting out of 4th at redline, and by the time you get there you dont need 5th any more :)
