Top speed, auto vs 5 speed in 2002 gt

A governed car will shut down...not hold a steady speed. Almost like you hit the brakes. At 140 you are running out of motor. If your buddy's auto hits 155 then he has had the computer reflashed to remove the governer or has a chip. If I'm wrong I apologize but that is what I have learned in most cars.
I stay steady once I hit 120. 16" rims stock on 99 GT.

Isn't that where the governor is set on GTs that come out with 16" wheels regardless of tranny?
Yeah, around 120.

v6's are 115 (according to my 2 roomates with 02 v6's)

I have 4.10s and ran it up to about 150 and seemed to have a little left. But I kept thinking to myself...if I blew a tire out right now, I'm gonna die....so I slowed down. :)

I'm scared by reading that statement and thinking back when I hit 135 mph with another gt on the freeway... The car seems to have a lot more RPM to go when I went the 5th I remember..

Bottom line is.. no matter how fast, higher top speed auto has over 5-speed, I would never forgive myself driving an auto.. ever. That's just me

Does anyone have an approx. top speed for the two in stock form? I read somewhere that the 5 speed could hit 142-148 mph and the auto about
128-137 mph. Does 4:10 gears affect this, make the car faster or slower?
my stock 2002 mustang gt auto has hit 140 and would have gone faster but I was running out of road. i had a slightly moded 2000 v6 with 3.7 gears auto that hit 135
