If he indeed a minor this only furthers my belief that minors shouldn't own or drive high performance automobiles. It's a blanket statement since there are some mature minors out there but most aren't capable of common sense when it comes to these cars.

There is absolutely no reason to ever top these cars out. You're never going to hit 140+ on a drag strip or any road course so it's likely he's asking so he can show off to his friends. Lose control of these things @ 140 MPH and they'll be using your dental records to ID you.

If you want to get a tune, that's awesome. They work wonders with these cars. Just don't be stupid and drive safe.

Good luck.

Guys, please, I am not planning on doing 150+. I greatly appreciate your concern for kids with a lack of experience. I simply like to know when someone asks "How fast does it go?" I usually respond by downshifting and hittin the gas for a second, and they dont ask again. I am just concerned at what these cars are truly capable of. Being that I have one, I like to now what they can do. I know I still have lots to learn and I love the fact that you guys are concerned for me. That lets me know how truly level-headed and genuine ya'll are. Thank you for all your advice, input, and concern. I am definitely keeping my eyes open for a performance driving clinic, and have thought many times I should try it out. I respect my car more than most would think, and I know fast those 300 horses can come unbridled. Once again, thank you for everything, you are the ones that make the mustang community the best in the world.

Fast enough...it's a 300 HP car. It surely can't beat most of those German 4 door sedans, eventhough most of them are limited to 155 or so.
I'd say most people are only talking about off the line and short stints of high speed...not what can it get to after 2 miles...at least I hope not. I had mine up to 130 ONCE and probably will never get that high again. I would like to get near 120...at the drag strip

i had my mustang up to 115-120ish one time and i did not like how it felt..the rear seemed to dance around to much for me..i dont know if it is the aerodynamics of the car but my z28's felt much more planted at that speed

You are most welcome.

The HPDE/HPDS events are as fun as hell and educational as well. I believe you would enjoy one or two.

I got mine up to a gps verified 150mph on desert roads in Nevada. I would never try it here in NY. I can honestly say that is all she had. I had it pinned for about 4 minutes. You can see my mods below, I didn't use the NOS on that run. It felt fairly steady.

He's right though, the uneducated only ask one question

"duhhhhdarhhhhhh how FAST does it go?"

which could mean many things but the best way to appease them and move on is give them a speed, not a 0-60 (this means nothing to them), or a 1/4 mile (likewise).

it was easy for me back in the day cause I knew the SHO can do 143mph stock.

I can verify that hood comment. I had mine up around 120 once and the front edges of the hood kept trying to come up. It was pretty scary. Hood pins aren't a bad idea.

I had that problem too. My hood looked like a piece of paper at 110mph. There are two rubber stoppers on each side that screw up and down. Just unscrew them a little and you won't have a problem. I learned about this after I bought the hood pins and never installed the pins. It takes about 20 seconds and the problem is fixed.

Yes, get the biggest spoiler you can. It won't add any useable downforce, but it will add drag to slow you down; so it might just save your life
