I just finished swapping in my Versailles and now Im onto getting my aerostar drive
shaft measured and cut to the correct length. Currently I have a 4 spd top loader
and since my rear is geared to 3.50 , in the not so distant future I would like to put in a T5. Is there a significant difference in the position of the toploader and the T5, anything that would place more error on the measurement of the aerostar shaft?

Ok...would the tailshaft of the toploader be the same length has the T5 or is it longer/shorter. Im trying to get a measurement for my driveshaft?

When I did the AOD swap, I was told 1" shorter than stock.

What are the measurements for the T5 and also the toploader? What about the bellhousing adapter, that would lengthen the postion?

the overall length of the T-5 is longer due to the input shaft. When I did my C-4 -> T-5 on my '68 i shortened by 3/4" and it fit perfectly. I've heard 1/2" up to 1". But I just looked at the situation with my drive shaft as it fit (or rather, didn't fit) to the T-5.

They had to cut my shaft when I intalled th t-5. If you go t-5 get the bell-housing for the t-5. You will not need the adapter plate plus you can go cable or hydraulic much easier.
