ive done this a couple of times before and always sell my engine and never make enough money out of it and shippins is always a b**ch. so ive come to the conclusion that i am going to use the 2.3 and tranny to make a dune buggy, I know there are no dunes in houston but there are lots of places to go muddin and what not, plus galveston is an hour away. ive figured out some cars that will fit the 2.3...... miatas, rx7, older corrolas, ect... i am looking for a car that has a short wheel base, and is relativly light i will be tearing off the body and replacing it with a roll cage and steel tubing. has any one here done this before and my next question would be which car would you recomend to do this with, i want one that will be easier to modify the suspension. and also i want to shorten the gears so how would i go about doing this bigger gears in the back? sorry for the long thread any suggestions would be great.:flag:

i'd just build it as a turbo motor and go sell it. seems making an entire dune buggy just because you have a motor and tranny laying around is kind of a waste of time, effort, and monay....just my opinion though

very good points, i just figured it would be fun im sure i can get a totaled car from a junk yard for pretty cheap, and all the tubing and welding materials are laying around at my dads place, and suspension parts are all going to be from the junkyard, all in all i plan on spending around 12 to 1500 $, ive already sold most of my rides and only plan on keeping the 93 cobra (mint 15,000 miles) and my DD the frontier, im buying a new Zo6 and will have no more project cars after that i figured why not sundays are soooooo boring!:nice:

skip the zo6 and buy a sand car and put some miles on the cobra it deserves to be driven, and if you are going to build a dune buggy out of a rx7 it makes alot more sense to keep the rotary motor lighter smaller and faster with a turbo

i really want a zo6 there to sweet and the cobra gets driven every once in a while i just want to wait a couple more years when all the cobras are wrecked or not running any more and go out crusing in my mint original cobra and hopfuly pick up my kids from school in it .when the times come( no kids yet... i dont think any way?) , , and as far as the rotary i dont want to spend any money i already have an engine laying around, it doesnt have to be to baja standards just for me to have fun in!
