torque Boxes

Ok everyone i have been looking around for a few days now and I am stumped. I plan on doing my suspension before the weather breaks and the one thing that has me confussed are the torque boxes. If i have them welded in should i not even bother with control arms? or should i get control arms and not bother with the welding... orrr should i do both??? Just to give you an idea about the car, it is a DD in the summer and will see absolutly no track time, strickly street. No major mods to the engine yet which is why i am doing the suspension first. (a 5 lug conversion is second on the list and then the engine work) i want to be able to keep the power on the ground before i put it in and screw something up. So thanks in advance and sorry if it seems like a common sense answer to some of you , but im still a noob on here just trying to find my way!

you will want to do control arms and weld the torque boxes they are both weak points. Strengthening one will just show the others weakness even more

Where can i get both of them ... or better yet what brand? Control arms on ebay run like 130 $ but it is ebay ... are they junk?

Ive got no name control arms and just bought a set of SMR torque box reinforcements on ebay last week (and got them today). They were $65 shipped and look pretty good and have instructions.
Im going to get them put on as soon as I can. I cant weld so Im having a guy around here do it for me.

The torque boxes are already on the car. They are the parts where the uppper and lower control arms mount to the car's chassis. What you may be referring to are the torque box reinforcement plates. I got both the upper and lowers from Wild Rides Race Cars.

Oh yes sorry that is what i am talking about ... the reinforcemnts sorry for the confussion. But everyone seems to think i should wel in the replacements AND put in control arms, right? Also i have heard of putting in just lower control arms and not upper, why is this and is it a good idea?

Well the reason most dont buy upper control arms is for a couple of reasons 1. they will not yeild as much improvement as lower. 2. they may be running a pan hard rod 3. they are running a 3- link. 4. the lowers experience most of the load. The problem with the uppers is they are trying to do to many things at once they are trying to control side to side movement foward movement and alxe wrap also they are trying to locate the rear end. So in theory if you ran a pand hrad rod new lower controls and better springs and shocks you would really not need new uppers but I would recomend them any way because they will be stronger. Those are some of the reasons I am sure I missed a few others.

i have upr spherical, adjustables on my upper and lower.....my 60ft times are 1.50s

I dont think i nee adj. because i just want it for the street i dont plan on racing at all. So what is the best brand out there? or are they all equal?

Any links would be great. I'm wanting to get the upper and lower to. Also I need to get the tq box things too.

wild rides race cars torque box reineforcemnts and maximum motors sports control arms..or even BBK or UPr will be better then stock. You could ge tcontrol arms from summit but the battle box reinforcements will be wildridesracecars.com

Thanks to everyone who has helped so far! Some guy on here was gonna sell me the wild rides reiforcements when i bought my subframe connectors ... i wasnt sure what he was trying to sell me at the time, but now i really wish i would have taken them. Oh well, has anyone purchased and used any of this stuff off of ebay? The torque boxes are just metal so that shouldnt be a big deal, but they also have Control arms (upper and lower) for about 140. They also have tokico HP's (shocks and Struts) for about 230, CC plates for about 130, and an eibach pro kit w/ isolators for 260 ... now I personally think the prices are very reasonable .. but it is ebay and the products could be garbage ... does anyone have any experience with buying products from people on there? Or if anyone knows where i can get a better price for a name brand that would be halpfull too ...

Take a look at the Pro3i pieces too! I've heard some good things about them from Rick91Gt and few others that have beat on them at the track.

Those look good but whats something thats not as pricey .. or am i gonna get what i pay for, like if i buy cheap control arms are they gonna perform terrible?

.. yea thats what i was afriad of .. but i am not puttin out any serious power yet ... just upgraded the gears to 3:73's, so it think for right now i am just gonne do the Torque box reinforcment and then later on ill do the control arms.
