I'm planning to buy the P.I. Stallion 10.5" Multi Disc Tc with approx stall of 2600-2800. I'm curious as to the gas mileage decrease I'll get afterwards especially on the highway.

None really! I have 4.10', 3200 PI stall and 24lbs injectors and got 22 mpg on the highway today! Around the city about 17-18 mpg.....with 373's and the same it got 19-20mph and 23-25 on the Highway.....but god I love the 4.10's! IMOA get the 3200 stall converter if your NA..!!

2600 is too small for a 4.6 get a 3200

I have never had a PI in a mustang but I have a lot of experience with them in F-bodies. excellent converter

the TC is day and night difference. make sure you get a good trans cooler right away and plan on doing the j-mod and a tuner.

The car is a daily driver that'll see the track once or twice a year and an autocrossin track a little more. Still think I should go with 3100? I thought that may be a bit high but I don't want to shortchange myself either.

What he said. You won't even notice the difference if you limit yourself to 2,600-2,800 stall. Mine set to stall at about 2,800-3,000....but I'm also backing things with a built 4.6L, all the bolt ons, a positive displacment blower and 3.73 gears. If I were running N/A I would have gone with at least a 3,200, regardless of gear gear ratio.

From what I've read, 2600 rpm stall is stock on the mustang. 3000-3200 is whats generally recommended. I plan on 3200, eventually. As far as gas mileage goes, on the highway you're in 4th lockup, 1:1 anyways, so no change there. Even driving in town, at light throttle I'm in 4th locked up by 30mph anyways so I doubt you'll see much differance there either. But if you've got a lead foot, all that theory goes out the window, and you probably don't really care about fuel economy anyway.

I would not go less than 3200.

Now you have to remember this does not mean you will be cruising all day at 3200. During light throttle driving it will not go that high but when you stomp on a 3200 stall will keep you above 3200 rpm's

One more thing to remember these numbers are just a range. a 3200 can stall as high as 3400 and even higher if you added a BIG mod like a KB without "restalling" the converter.​

On my 04 GT:

Stock: 18-19 mpg in the city
With 4.10s: 17-18 mpg
With 3000 stall: 17-18 mpg

I agree with the above posts. Nothing less than 3200. I got a 3000 and sometimes wonder if a 3200 would've been better. The good thing is when I add power and torque to my motor, it will stall higher so I may end up with a 3200 later.
