I am in the process in upgrading my 03 Mustng GT with patriot Stage 2 heads and comp cams 270ah's. I know I need to get a new torque converter but I am not sure what be a good setting for Stall speed. The plan for my GT is apply the above items and maybe within a year add a blower or keep it as a N/A. What would be a good stall speed I should consider. I have been told either a 2800 or a 3000 stall speed but any more information would be appreciative.

Also, can anyone recommend where I can purchase a good/excellent quality stall convertor from???

i would go 3600 min. 2800-3000 is too low even for a stock cams gt.. even with a 4000 stall during normal driving you will be no where near 4k rpm's.. only when you get into it a little will you shoot up to 4k.

I went with a 2800 stall that flashes at 3000. Here's some more info.

I am going to say this. The minimum stall speed should be 3500 RPM. 2800 - 3000 RPM stall TC's, you are wasting your time and money. I posted this info before but I don't remember the exact specs. Roughly the stock TC stall rating is between 2300 - 2700 RPM.

I would also suggest you shop around as there is good TC's out there and there is junk. I happen to know where there is a few places that you can get a quality TC. PM me if your interested.

Thxs guys. I didn't know that the stock stall is that high. I thought it was around 1800-2200. But if anyone knows how to verify it i bet that be goood information to find out.

Another vote for a minimum of 3,500RPM stall. I went with a 3,000RPM stall with my set up, but I'm also running a P/D blower and don't plan on visiting the strip very often. A Centrifugal car (assuming that's what's in your future) along with a 3,500-4,000RPM stall converter would be an absolute weapon!

This is the one I went with....or at least a fairly modified version of one, anyway.

I got an Edge 2800-3000 on my 04 GT. I went with the recommendations because I didn't want it to make daily driving a pain in the rear. This is my daily driven car and I just wanted a little attitude out of it. If this was a track only car, I would've gone a lot higher. When I got the stall converter installed, the shifting felt a little loose at mid-throttle. Gentle acceleration at light throttle felt the same. Hard acceleration at heavy throttle was a blast. It was just that mid-throttle that felt loose. But with a handheld tuner (SCT Xcalibrator2), I was able to firm up the shifting and raise the shift points to a point where it felt good again. Looking back, I should've gone with a 3200-3400.
